It's summer, and we still have about a month of it.
Are you at that place where you are DONE, you are ready to STOP making snacks altogether!?!?
It seems that when summer hits, we are constantly just feeding our kids! Can I get an "Amen" from my other mamas out there?!?
So what do you feed your kids?
Many times because of the fast pacedness of our society, we tend to go for ease! We fill up baskets and drawers with pre-packaged snacks, that quite frankly probably fuels their sugar desire (or being more frank, let's call it what it is, their sugar ADDICTION), keeps them satisfied for a moment, then their body starts to want MORE! So they come back asking for more snacks!
The same thing happens with chips, and empty carbs, and things like that. They don't really fuel their body, they just give them some quick energy that will shortly be absorbed, burned off, and their body will want more!
So why not feed our kids something that's going to fuel them and keep them satisfied longer?!!?
- Many times, like I said, the fueling snacks take more time to prep. So convenience wins out.
- Sometimes it's just that we don't know what to feed them.
I understand. But let me address both of these issues, and stya with me because I've got a snack that's going to blow both YOU and your kids minds!!
So to address #1! You are right! HEALTHY FOOD takes time to prep! Look at the trends of our world! Back in the day, more time was spent in the kitchen, and our society was healthier! Today, barely any time is spent in the kitchen, and our health bills are showing the outcome of that! Not to mention that some of the leading causes of death today are now related to what we are eating! WE'VE GOT TO SPEND SOME TIME IN THE KITCHEN!
Now I'm not saying hours upon hours upon hours. But 1-2 hours a week to prep some meals and/or healthy snacks will save your waistline, your health bills down the road, and potentially YOUR LIFE! It's worth it! YOU ARE WORTH IT! YOUR KIDS ARE WORTH IT!

These are our favorite go-to afternoon snack, and not only are they delicious, but they are full of healthy goodness. Just a few simple ingredients, and you are getting good healthy fats and proteins to keep you satisfied longer! Plus the kids love to help make these, and they are easy to pack up to take to the park, or put in school lunches!
All you need is:
- 1 apple
- 4 TBSP nut butter
- toppings: shredded coconut, raw cacao nibs, seeds, nuts, chia seeds, cinnamon.
