Friday 5 Fave Workouts 01.13.17

Here's what happens on the weekend. Things get either busy, or lazy. We are enjoying time with family, going out with friends, or maybe traveling, and usually all our healthy eating and working out efforts are out the window!

That's why for the next several weeks I'm going to be sharing Friday 5 Fave Workouts with you! Things that you can do with just a little weight at home, at someone else's house, or in a hotel! You don't have to go to the gym, or take a ton of your time to do it! Just do these simple moves to keep you moving, and hopefully having worked out will encourage you to continue making smart choices when it comes to filling your plate!

So to start it off, here's the moves for this weekend! We will be utilizing the Kamagon Ball from Hedstrom Fitness for these workouts. The Kamagon ball is a pretty amazing piece of equipment because it's filled with water, (and you can choose which weight you would like it to be at). For these exercises I'm using it at 10lbs. This use of water in equipment is called Hydro-Inertia. "The efficiency of Hydro-intertia resistance mimics real life situations far more than do static weights such as dumbbells. This is not only important for athletes in their functional training programs, but also helps every day functionality like picking up children."

Here's the written workout. Watch the video below for how each movement is done!

Make it a HIIT workout by doing the moves back to back with only a 1 minute break between.

  • 15 Squats with overhead press
  • 10 Reverse lunge with oblique twists (on each side)
  • 15 V-ups
  • 15 Bent over rows
  • 15 Bicep Curls

Rest & Repeat up to 5 times

Bulu Box Review

Let's be honest, nutrition products are needed. They can help enhance our workouts, help with pain, help us take care of ourselves, and increase our overall health all together. But while we are being honest, can we all admit that the nutrition industry is making a KILLING off of us.  Nutrition products aren't cheap, so when you buy them, it's usually with a good chunk of change, and there is always some risk involved. Sometimes the risk comes from you not getting the results you want from a product. While other times, it could just be that you can't stand the taste of the product. I have had several nutrition products that are so potent that I just can't handle drinking or taking them due to the taste.

Then there you have it. You have this entire container of an expensive product that you won't even be using. And you are left trying to decide if you want to find another product to buy, risking that the same thing could happen again. more of that!

Bulu Box has fixed the problem for us!

Rather than buying full size products with our fingers crossed and hoping it works out for us, Bulu Box has created a monthly subscription box where they will send you full size samples of health and nutrition products to try out.

Bulu Box Review

[bctt tweet="Stop wasting your money! TRY IT before you BUY IT with @BuluBox @brittanysuell #sweatpink @fitapproach #lovebulu"]

What's even better, is that if you LOVE the product, it's easy to go right to their website and order more of it!

Seriously isn't that such a great idea! Imagine how much money you will save by being able try things before you commit and buy them!

"Bulu Box is the best way to discover the health, nutrition and weight loss products that are right for YOU!"

Order a 3-month subscription of BuluBox and get it for 50% OFF with code:

I got a BuluBox this week, with some great products in it! Some I would never even think to look for at the store, but I realize would be very helpful for me. Here's what I got!

Bulu Box Review

  1. Yerba Prima-is a fiber powder, which I love to add to my smoothies but haven't had any to do that with in a long time. This specific one is full of goodness that promotes healthy bacteria in the gut. This is actually such a big deal, because with so much of the food in our world today, many of us are walking around with bad guts, which can cause a lot of inflammation in our body! I am definitely going to be trying this and reading up on it.
  2. The T-Brush-a different way to brush your teeth. This was a bonus for this box, but I am so intrigued, and have enjoyed the different shaped toothbrush so far.
  3. Island Boost-is supposed to be an automatic shot of energy without caffeine. I am running 8 miles tonight, so I plan to try this out and I'll let you know how it goes!
  4. RUNA Tea-I was so excited to see this. They sale this tea at a local Natural Grocers, and my friend just bought some and was telling me how amazing it was. PLUS, it's Sugar Free! She bought already made, bottled tea, but this is a tea bag. I'm excited to make some hot tea with it! Plus I love cinnamon.
  5. Movit Energy Gummies-Okay, I tried these on my 5miler last night, and it was my best run in a while. I felt INCREDIBLE!! Plus these things tasted great!

So take advantage of the 50% OFF Code from Fitappraoch, and who knows, you could find some amazing health and fitness products that could really help enhance your workouts and make you feel better! Even if some products you don't love, at least you didn't waste money on full sizes of them!

Fresh Strawberry Basil Margarita Recipe

Wahoo!  Everyone celebrate because it's the WEEKEND! And on top of that, it's a LONG WEEKEND!

So what better to celebrate with, than a HEALTHY, ALL-NATURAL, SUGAR FREE Strawberry Basil Margarita!

Healthy, All-Natural, Sugar Free, Fresh STRAWBERRY BASIL Margarita Recipe by @brittanysuell

It's basically a smoothie with alcohol in it! Seriously, it's so good!

Wondering how I decided to create a Strawberry Basil Margarita!?! I know, it sounds weird at first, but it's super yummy.

Remember when we finished our chicken coop and I shared with you all about the herb garden I planted on the roof of it!? You can see details and photos of my coop and herb garden here. So my basil grew like crazy and I harvested my first herbs from my garden box! (I was seriously so excited!) Plus look how fresh and yummy they look!

Fresh grown basil from my herb garden. Used to make strawberry margaritas! Here's the yummy recipe!

So I decided to make a Strawberry Margarita and add some basil to it. And when that went over so well, I invited some girls over last weekend while my husband was gone, and I made them for everyone!

Strawberry basil margarita recipe!

I also made some of my original Sugar Free Margaritas! (Get that recipe HERE)

So celebrate Memorial Day weekend with friends, and a fresh margarita! If you don't have fresh basil, that's okay, just grab some from the store, along with REAL strawberries, and it will still be super yummy!

[yumprint-recipe id='8']I definitely think I'm going to be loving basil this summer! I plan to use more of my fresh basil this weekend to make Margarita Pizza with friends! (this pizza has nothing to do with alcohol lol it just has a related name.)

[bctt tweet="HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND! Try this Healthy, All-Natural, Fresh STRAWBERRY BASIL Margarita Recipe by @brittanysuell"]

Here are my favorite FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND HERBS of the summer!

  1. Watermelon
  2. Cantaloupe
  3. Basil
  4. Sweet Potatoes
  5. Mint
  6. Always avocado!

If this sounds good, but you are still wanting an original Margarita, try my Sugar Free Margarita Recipe HERE!

5 Thoughts I'm Having Before My Half Marathon! #FridayFive

Well....this weekend is race weekend, and lot's of thoughts are swimming through my head!  So today, for the Friday Five Link-Up, I've decided to share with you a few of the thoughts that I am already having, or I know I will be having when I'm standing at the start line of the Big D Half Marathon on Sunday morning!

If you are training for a half-marathon, be might start having some of these crazy thoughts! via @brittanysuell

1) "Why didn't I run more!!??"

This is seriously a thought I've been having lately because the last few weeks haven't been my best, or consistent in training. I mean I ran 10 miles three weeks ago, so that gives me some encouragement, but even in my shorter miles over the past few weeks, I just haven't been on top of things in my scheduling, so I haven't been getting those in. Plus I've been being a baby and not wanting to run with my stroller.

2) "It's soooo early...seriously if I was normal, I could be in bed, cozy...not cold, not stressing, and not about to push myself for 13.1 miles! WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING!"

Did I mention there was going to be lots of whining here....! haha Seriously though, I think pre-race, or even at the start of the race, there's this jittery nervousness that comes over me that makes me question, and second-guess everything!

3) "To wear the long sleeve or not....that is the question."

Early morning races can have a tendency to start out cold...even in April. And although I know I will warm up rather quickly, do I want to sacrifice the short amount of time and be cold, or stay warm, and then just have to wear a long sleeve shirt around my waist the entire time. It's a pretty big dilemma here!

4) "I wish I could run while drinking hot coffee....maybe I should invent a running camel back type thing that holds coffee...and keeps it hot. Well I guess while I'm at it I should create a healthy, hydrating, protein infused coffee drink so that I won't feel bad for drinking it while running."

Seriously....I might be delirious by this point, but this is what I'm thinking!

5) "OH NO!! The race is about to start, and I think I have to pee!!..............AGAIN!!!!!!"

Welcome to my life. I seriously have to pee all the time! This was before I became a mom, while I was pregnant, and still now. I drink a lot of water (and coffee) I constantly have to go to the bathroom! And it seems like every time I start a race or run I have to go! Seriously, at my first half marathon ever, we ran down a hill at the start line and I ran right into a Porta Potty. Honestly I don't even know why there was one at the beginning of the race, but I was thankful for whoever planned that out!

So yes, this may seem like a crazy person talking, but these are thought I am having, have had before, or can imagine myself having. But guess what!!?? As soon as I cross that finish line.....all that will be gone! Instead, I'll be thinking....

1) "Wahoo! That race went great! I felt good mentally, my legs felt good! I'm so glad training went so well and I ran so much in preparation for this!"

2) "OMG It's only 8:45AM, and I've already ran 13.1 miles! So glad I'm not one of those lame people that are still at home in bed! I feel great, and I'm so awake!"

3) "I should probably change clothes now since everything I'm wearing is soaked from sweat! Oh...heyo, I'll put on my race t-shirt because I freaking beast-moded that thing!" (yes I know beast-moded is not grammatically correct)

4) "I'll take that coffee now...Starbucks please! And since I haven't invented my nutritious coffee running drink yet, go ahead and give me some water and some Nuun please!"

5) "Oh ya, I still have to pee!"

[bctt tweet="If you are training for a race, be might start having some of these crazy thoughts! via @brittanysuell"]

Are you wanting to have your most successful race yet, or maybe you are just getting are @brittanysuell 's TOP 5 SECRETS TO A SUCCESSFUL RACE! Inspired by my 5 mile training run last night, I decided to take today's FRIDAY 5 topic, and give you my TOP 5 SECRETS TO A SUCCESSFUL RACE! And really, they are the Top 5 things that you have to overcome, and then, then you will have a successful race, no matter what the distance!

Are you wanting to have your most successful race yet, or maybe you are just getting are @brittanysuell 's TOP 5 SECRETS TO A SUCCESSFUL RACE!

1. Just Start!!

-To have a successful race, you just need to START running! To do anything successfully, you have to begin, and in that, celebrate the small victories! From your first run, to your first race, celebrate!

2. Nix the Negative Self Talk!!

-Alright, here comes the Yoga Instructor in me......You've got to think positively, and I don't just mean externally, but internally! When you are running, or preparing for a run, talk positively to yourself! Talk yourself up, and tell yourself how awesome you are and how good you will feel after you knock out that run! And when negative self talk starts up, SHUT IT DOWN!!!

3. Be Gentle on and Listen to Your Body!!

-Challenge yourself, but don't push yourself too hard! Alright, here's the Yoga Instructor in me again: But listen to your body, know when it's time to stop, or rest, and take care of yourself! It's not worth pushing yourself into an injury! Be gentle, and recover properly!

4. Be Prepared For Any Type of Weather!!

-If you are planning to train for a run, be prepared for the season that you are in or will be in. Weather can become one of our easiest excuses when it comes to training for a race. If it's too cold, it's easy to cop out and say..."I'm not going to run today..." Then one day turns into two, into three, and then you haven't run in a week or two....and that is not setting yourself up for a successful race. Believe me, I know I've been there and am speaking from experience!

5. Train Properly!!

-Getting a correct training program, no matter what the distance you are running, and stick with it. Stay consistent in your runs, running throughout the week, and one long run a week. It's hard on the body when you skip the short runs and just try to hit the long runs, (I've done this as well), and my training is not near as successful. So train right! And find out the proper way to hydrate and keep up good nutrition while training too! Here's some tips I shared previously about Half Marathon Training Nutrition

1. Coffee all day long!

Friday Favorites with @brittanysuell

It's what I do! I just love my coffee. But don't worry, it's not sugar infested, (read how I drink my coffee, for some sugar free yummy alternatives HERE), and I'm not addicted to the caffeine. I drink decaf! So I actually just really love the taste! For me, it's water and coffee all day every day!

2. Whole Wheat, Sugar Free, Blueberry Waffles!

Whole Grain, Sugar Free, Blueberry Waffles from @brittanysuell

3. Outside runs on days that have 60degree weather

......OH WAIT, no picture of that because every day has looked like this and has thrown my training runs way off! (thankful for the water though, because our land needs it. *Gotta find the silver lining in there)

Running in the ice is no fun!

4. Quick weekends away with my family=REFRESHING

Quick Weekend in Ruidoso, NM. was so refreshing @brittanysuell

We recently took a weekend trip to New Mexico with our cousins to ski. It was such a fun, adventurous, and relaxing weekend! Definitely does a body good to get away sometimes! Even if only for the weekend!

What's in my Yoga Bag!?

Since I just launched my new blog, yesterday, I thought this would be a great time to get to know me, the Brittany behind the blog!

So as many of you may know, I am a Yoga instructor! I started my certification (which is a 200hr program) with YogaFit Training in August 2013.  As soon as I completed training for Level 1, I started teaching, I also got pregnant. (Actually, I think I was pregnant while at training, but didn't find out until after.) So I am still in the midst of completing my 200hr Yoga Certification, but I have goals to finish in the summer of 2016! Anyways though, I currently teach yoga at Hardin-Simmons University (where I got both of my degrees), at D1 Abilene (a gym for athletes), and I am about to start teaching free community classes for a local shoe store.

I absolutely love Yoga. I started taking Yoga classes while in college and loved how deceivingly challenging it was! I was shocked after taking my first class and being so sore! I loved the soreness! So I kept up with it. Throughout the years, yoga has been different things to me. Sometimes a source of exercise, sometimes a source of therapy, at times it was my avenue to get away and have time for myself. Yoga has been there for me when I have gone through some of the roughest things in life (i.e. the tragic death of my brother, and more recently a miscarriage).

So, needless to say, Yoga has a special place in my heart! I also attribute part of my wonderful birthing experience to the fact that I did Yoga during 8.5 months of pregnancy, (the other parts I attribute to the grace and favor of God). As well as getting back into shape after baby; I can give all that credit to Yoga, because with a bummed knee for several months, all I did was Yoga for the first 4 months post baby, and I love almost all of my weight by then, which was about 70lbs (WOAH I know!).

Now that you know how much I love Yoga, and why, let's talk about what all I need when I go to Yoga! I'm linking up for the Friday Five linkup with "What's in my Gym Yoga Bag!"What's in my Yoga bag by @BrittanySuell

Top 5 things I keep in my Yoga mat....Well let's start with the obvious,

  1. A Yoga Mat & Yoga Block/Strap of course! -My go-to Yoga Mat is from Lululemon. My husband bought it as a gift for me when I went for my first Yoga Training in August 2013, and I have loved it ever since. My block and strap are cheapos from Marshall's, but it does the trick.
  2. My journal with various Yoga classes written down in it. -I used this religiously when I first began teaching. Not as much anymore.  Sometimes I will still use it to be reminded of a Flow I enjoyed teaching previously, or if I am doing all new things, just so I remember the order of class.
  3. Water Bottle! -I am a water drinker. Other than coffee, (and the occasional sweet tea which I am mostly giving up), I drink water, water, water! So I have to have a water bottle with me! Especially for those hot yoga sessions!
  4. Chapstick. -Yep, I'm one of those. I like my lip glosses and my chap sticks! I do not enjoy dry lips! And just to be specific, it's the vaseline favorite!
  5. Pouch with Essential Oil Blend & Mat Cleaner. -First off, my mat gets super dirty, so I got mat cleaner as a gift once, and I have loved carrying it around with me. Plus it's the perfect size for my little travel pouch. Next, my essential oil blend given to me by a fellow Yoga instructor. I love using this at the end of some of my classes.

So there you have it! My Yoga journey, and what's in my Yoga bag!!

Tell me, what's the WEIRDEST or MOST RANDOM thing in your gym/yoga bag!?!?

10 Days of Christmas Giveaway #8! Stay Energized! & #FridayFive

It's Day #8 already...Which means, we are almost to the end of our 10 Days of Christmas Giveaway. So stick around, and keep entering in to win each day, because there are still some great prizes to give out! Plus, to end the GIVEAWAY, we have a BIG GIVEAWAY, and it's a surprise! But let me just tell you it is perfect for the winter month! And you are going to want to WIN!

10 days of ChristmasThis weekend I am visiting family, and I plan to take some time out of my weekend, to enjoy my new Lorna Jane, Move. Nourish. Believe Diary, and do some seriously Goal setting and dreaming for 2015! Get ready to hear all about it next week!

I can't believe how close Christmas is! Who is ready!?!?! Not me, I don't feel like I'm having enough time in December to enjoy the season, it is just flying by! Speaking of the winter season, here are a few of the things I love to do during the winter !

 5 Favorite Winter Activities!

1) Enjoying the night in with my family! Staying home, baking or making some festive Christmas food, having hot drinks (coffee or hot chocolate), and watching a cheesy Christmas movie!

2) Christmas crafts! I am a big crafting person! I love making stuff....actually this year, almost all of our gifts we are giving are handmade! I sew, and we also make wood gifts (actually something you may not know about me is that my husband and I own our own business.....Check it out at this link>>Simply Suell

3) Santa Land! I am from a small town in East Texas, and a few towns

over is a place called Santa Land! It's several miles of extreme Christmas light exhibits that you drive your car through. There is always a huge line, but it is well worth it! I love going there every year!

4) Family traditions---coming to East Texas to visit our family.  And although at times the going from house to house visiting everyone seems chaotic, I also find such joy in the chaos and tradition of each family! I love being with family, the festiveness of the days, the warm foods and drinks, the time we spend just's very peaceful!

5) The challenge of staying motivated in winter...WHAT!?!?! Yes this is actually becoming one of my favorite things.  I know that winter can be hard for fitness and health....I know because I have experienced not keeping up with my normal routine or eating habits. But the challenge is fun! It brings me together with people! Whether it's my online friends that I am in a #HolidaySweat Challenge with, or with you guys on my Facebook page, or with my running accountability partner, or with my mom. We all know the feeling of messing up when we travel, and when we celebrate with family, and when we get out of the routine.  So it's fun to band together and motivate/encourage one another to do better this year! I am loving the community and accountability I am receiving in all these areas!

CynthiaMar, & Courtney

We've already talked about how hard it can be to stay happy and motived during the winter, in this post, "How to Beat the Winter Blues." So today, as a little encouragement to stay energized through this season of cold and dark days, I'm giving away a bundle of Clif Energy Shots!

10 Days of Christmas Giveaway #1 & My Friday Holiday Favorites!

Today is such a great day! Wanna know why.....well first because I get to talk about the holidays and share with you all what my 5 Holiday Faves are! And who doesn't love cozy holiday talk! Secondly, today starts the celebration of one of my closest friends who is getting married, yay for MARRIAGE! And lastly, today also starts the 10 Days of Christmas Giveaway on my blog! So....for my 5 Holiday Faves!!

Let me preface by saying, that I am a huge atmosphere person! When I think of the perfect date, or perfect party, or perfect spa day, it's all about the atmosphere: lighting, candles, get the point! So, most of my faves have to do with that!

1) Scents! I love good holiday go-tos are Bath & Body Works Candles....I never buy them full price though, I always wait until they are on sale for 2 for $10! But they are so worth it! They work great! And I love my Scenty's! (Yes my sister & mom are both ROCKIN' Scentsy consultants!) Seriously though, I have 5 Scentsy's in my house, and love them! But I can't live without the nice lighting of my candles too, so I have both!

2) Boots & Leggings & Scarfs OH MY! Duh, Duh, and Duh! The most comfortable and cute outfit ever! I love all three of those!

3) And to go along with my fave outfit for the holidays.....I love nice winter weather.  Sometimes it's nice to have cold weather outside....but mostly, I just love being inside my warm cozy house, with my candles lit, Christmas lights on, hot drink in hand, and seeing the cold haze over the windows, and maybe some ice or snow on the ground!

4) COFFEE! Yep, I have previously announced to you all that I might be addicted! But least I drink decaf (because I'm nursing, and caffeinated coffee kept my baby up!) Seriously though, I love having a nice hot cup of coffee with me.  It makes my morning perfect! What am I talking makes my afternoons and evenings perfect too!

5) My home decorated for Christmas! I love creating the perfect atmosphere in my home.  I love having the tree decorated, sparkling, and lit. I love having the nativity scene on my mantle and our family stockings dangling below.  That view, and that aroma of a sweet, peaceful, holiday home, is PERFECT!

A YAM Good Friday! #FridayFive

Fall is so much fun! Scarves, Leaves, Boots, Leggings, Candles, Cool Weather, and GREAT FOOD!

I'm linking up to the Friday Five with Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What and talking about Favorite Fall Foods! five-favorite-fall-foods-1024x1024 bout 5 ways to cook the ultimate Fall food!

Yep, I'm talking about a YAM!

Did you know...that a serving of sweet potato (about 1 cup) contains:

-180 calories

-4 grams of protein

-7 grams of fiber

-0 grams of fat

-13 grams of sugar

So all in all, these yummy potatoes are pretty good for you! But in moderation, because even though the 13 grams of sugar are natural sugar, too much, can be too much!

395592-182317-30Did you also know that.....

I grew up in Gilmer, TX. a small town in East Texas, where we celebrate YAM's....Sweet Potatoes, yes! Actually the festival is called the YAMboree!

And although I grew up in this town, and yearly celebrated the Yamboree, I admit, I only just began eating sweet potatoes this year!

I'm a little obsessed these days, so...instead of Five Fall Favorite Foods, I'm sticking with the same food, and just sharing

5 great ways to cook Yams this Fall!

1) My latest love, baked sweet potato sticks/fries

So yummy! Just slice em up, toss them around with Olive Oil, salt them, and bake them at 350degrees for 35min! These are so yum and tasty, and even better than fries, because they aren't deep fried! Plus, my 7month old is loving these!

2) Twice-Baked Sweet Potatoes

3) Sweet Potato Chips

Another one of my favorite ways to eat sweet potatoes, is by making sweet potato chips.  If you cook these right, and get them crispy, they are a great snack to carry around when you get hungry! Check out my recent post HERE for the recipe and how to make these!

4) Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Honey and Cinnamon

5) Sweet Potato-Pecan Casserole

Tips for Running in the Cold, Holiday Talk, & a GIVEAWAY

What a great day today is, I've got some Tips for Running in the Cold, Talking about ways to get Active With Your Family during the holidays, and a GIVEAWAY!

family tradition

To start off, I'm linking up to the Friday Five with Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!dc_linkupThis week's topic is:

5 Cold Weather Running Tips

As many of you may know, I have been out from running since July because of a knee pain I was having! I just started back up this week, and what do you's in the 20's here! So, this is right up my alley, and really I need to take my own tips!

1) Don't let the cold get you down! Keep Moving!

-Bundle up and get outside to run! Find the part of the day that works best for you, and get moving! If you totally cannot bare to be in the cold, then find a treadmill to get on, and get your runs in!

The winter can be a dreadful time of year for some.  It's obviously colder, it gets dark (way too) early (in my opinion), and there's SO MUCH FOOD to be eaten! So, no wonder people struggle with seasonal depression, or gain the extra pounds during the holidays.  The time change doesn't really work in our favor to run after work, and the weather is sometimes dreadful to get out in.  But it's important to stay moving and active to fight the WINTER BLUES, and the Holiday Pounds!

2) Bundle Up, and Shed Some Layers

-Find the appropriate running attire to fit the weather temperatures! If it's cold where you are, then find winter gear, but also  wear clothes that are easy to shed once you get your heart rate pumping and the sweat dripping!

It really is important to find clothes that are "cold gear" clothes.  Find a nice pair of running gloves that keep your hands warm, and a running cowl or gaiter to protect the neck.  (Those are two things I hate getting cold when I run, my fingers, and my throat!) Also wear good thick socks, especially if it's snowy!

3) Stay Bundled After You Run

-After you run in the cold, or do any workout for that matter, be sure to stay bundled up, or just go ahead and change clothes!

Whether you are in a gym or outside, if you work up a sweat, don't go out in the cold with soggy, wet clothes.  Get on some fresh, warm, and most importantly DRY clothes so that you are still staying warm and protecting your body from sickness.

4) Properly Warm Up Your Muscles

-Just because it's cold and you are trying to hurry and run out, and get back into your house in front of the fire, doesn't mean you skip proper warm ups.  If anything, because it's cold, it's more important to warm up the muscles.

Do some moving warm ups, like high knees or butt kicks, something to get the legs moving and hip flexers lubricated, and you don't have to do those out in the cold, do them inside before you head out for a run.

5) Stay Properly Hydrated & Fueled

-Be sure to continue to drink lots of water throughout the winter! Even though it's not drudgingly hot outside, which automatically makes your body think water, doesn't mean you should forget to hydrate the body! Continue to take your running water bottle with you, or keep your water with you throughout the day and chug that H2O!

Getting ACTIVE for the Holidays!

So the holidays are right around the corner, and I plan to be sending you some great tips over the next few weeks on how to stay fit and make healthy choices for you AND your family over the busyness of the holidays!

So let's start with creating a NEW FAMILY TRADITION!

Instead of just gathering with your family to cook, eat yummy food, relax, watch football, eat more yummy food, and shop....why not add something new to your family traditions this year!

Let's GET ACTIVE with our families!

[Tweet "Start a New Tradition: Get Active with your family this holiday season! Plus a holiday GIVEAWAY! @NFSisters"]

It's not too late to sign up for a Turkey Trot with the whole family, or if that doesn't work, find a Santa 5K, a Jingle Run, or the Hot Chocolate 5K around you for December...or do both! Either way, these holiday 5K's are perfect for the entire family!

This was my family last year at our local Turkey Trot! It was my mother-in-law's first 5K, I was pregnant, and we got to bring our dogs!  It's a great run if it's someone's first time, because it's fun, and great just to walk it together if that's what you want to do.  Plus usually you get a fun shirt, and what better way to start off your Thanksgiving Celebration than getting active with your family!?

Another great option to get moving for the holidays is to sign up for the Holiday Sweat Challenge! and get your favorite friends and family to sign up with you...(like I did)! It's more fun when you do it with your family!
