It's a crazy time of year, and if we don't plan to be successful, then it is all too easy to fail! Slowly, our evenings get full, and the fast food drive thru gets increasingly easier to eat at with less and less guilt!
Stop the madness, and use some of my favorite tips to simplify life, and ensure that your healthy habits can continue through the Fall!
1) Batch cook
-At the beginning of the week cook a lot of chicken breasts or hamburger patties. I like to use both of these for lunch throughout the week...my favorite ways to eat them include tossing them on top of a salad, or garnishing them with yummy guacamole!
2) Rotisserie Chicken
-Get rotisserie chicken and use it for lunches, or those nights when you forgot to plan a dinner
3) Prep Healthy Breakfast foods
-My go-to, prepped in advance breakfasts include: egg muffin (just toss, eggs, cheese, meat, and veggies in muffin tins, bake and freeze). Smoothies! (you can throw all of your ingredients in Ziplocs and freeze them for even less time!
4) Prep veggies to use on meals
-It's easy to grab a piece of fruit and go, but we should be eating WAY MORE veggies in our diet! I like to chop up onion, tomato and cilantro and have it ready to make fresh guac at lunch time. I also like to use zucchini, thinly sliced and baked for zucchini chips. Or bag up raw, snackable veggies (think, cucumber, celery, and carrots) to take with you to work!
5) FREEZER MEALS!
-Seriously, a freezer should be used for meal prep...NOT yucky processed junk! All it takes is a little time on the weekend to prep some meals, put them in bags, and they are ready to be thrown in the crockpot or thawed and cooked in the freezer!
