The word scares us! We have been told for so long that we should avoid fat, and eat low-fat things, so we tend to steer clear of the stuff. But let me just clear the air now....FAT doesn't make you FAT....SUGAR DOES!
Don't let Fat intimidate you! We need to be getting a healthy balance of good fats in each meal! Why you ask?
FATS make you FULL!
This means that when it comes to eating fats, we can't gorge on them like we can sugars. When we eat fats, they are satisfying to our bodies, and they trigger the hormones in our brains that tell us we are full. Which means we stop eating them sooner!
That's why when you eat things like cheese or nuts as a snack, they help to get rid of your hunger.
SUGAR makes you FAT!
This is because when we eat sugar, it goes undetected in our body, which means it doesn't trigger those messenger hormones in our brains that say we are full. Which means we can just keep on eating it. Duh...have you ever started eating mini-chocolate bars, and you just kept on going. Makes sense right?
This is why you can drink multiple large or extra large soft drinks without getting full. The same thing can happen with fruit. That's why we have to be careful with how much fruit we take in on a daily basis, because even too much of the good kind of sugar (fructose) can be a bad thing.
So here's the deal...EAT FAT! Along with PROTEIN!
It fills you up and takes care of your cravings! Plus it's good for your body and fuels your body with lasting fullness, energy, focus, etc.
