Today I wanted to share more about HIIT workouts! HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. It's one of my favorite ways to workout my live classes, and myself for that matter.
Today I'm going to tell you WHY YOU SHOULD BE DOING HIIT WORKOUTS!
HIIT workouts are ideal for you, the busy woman, who seems to never be able to find time to workout. Let's admit it, usually we put everything else first. Work, house chores, kids activities, anything else we can think of...then maybe if we have time we fit in a workout. Well the great thing about HIIT is that you are looking to do intense movements at full energy level for a short amount of time. This means awesome things are happening, but quickly. Usually a HIIT workout lasts no more than 15-30 minutes.
Plus, what makes that 15-30 minutes even better...is that even though you are giving it all you have for that short amount of time. Taking yourself to the edge of exhaustion, and pushing hard...you are seeing the impacts for the next 24 hours. When you enter into that anaerobic state, it kicks your body into hyper drive to start burning calories. Which is exactly what we want. As a matter of fact, your body continue burning calories for the next 24 hours following a successful HIIT workout.

Ready to try your own HIIT workout??
When doing HIIT workouts, it's so important to push yourself to the max. Today I'm going to give you an easy, and super quick HIIT workout to try at home. I want you to carve out 18 minutes to do this, and push yourself hard. By the time you get to a resting phase, you should be out of breath and unable to speak normally. PUSH HARD, and see what you think!
AT HOME HIIT WORKOUT:
- Jumping Jacks
- Plank Jacks (this video shows the modified version)
- Squat Hops
- Jumping lunges (or as a modification do this: Pulsing lunges)
- In Outs (hop feet in and out or use slides like I demonstrated)
Do each movement for 1 minute each. Followed by a 1 minute rest. Completing a total of 3 rounds, and 15 minutes of hard work.
