A Little Goes A Long Way

All and Nothing...? When you read that are you like..."what?" My friend Kori recently started a blog, and it is good!

Last week she got REAL, and shared some vulnerable places in her life. Read her blog post, all AND nothing to hear her story of struggle.

Something that has stuck with me since reading this post from her, and something I have used to encourage numerous women that I am working with over this past week is this....

So many times we start something thinking we have to PUT OUR ALL INTO IT!

You get a gym membership and you go consistently for 2 days, then your kid gets sick and you don't make it for 3 days, or you work late and head out of town for the weekend.

WHY is it so hard for us to start back up. We feel like we FAILED just because we didn't make it EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Well I've realized my friends, A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY!

I would dare to say that 90% of the women that I work with get sick, or have children who get sick in their first 3 weeks of creating new, healthy habits! Making it so hard to stick to their plans and goals!
THIS IS NOT COINCIDENCE! Satan knows that when we are unhealthy, we aren't worth as much!
An unhealthy person lacks energy, joy, drive, confidence, and the physical ability to do things! An unhealthy person is more likely to fall prey to the lies that Satan is feeding us!
So, when you try and make healthy changes, HE WILL COME AT YOU to stop you. Do not be discouraged friends! Keep paddling upstream, and IT WILL GET EASIER!

PLUS, the benefits of a healthier you include: JOYfulness, CONFIDENCE, FAITH, GOAL SETTING, BELIEVING IN YOURSELF, having a STRONG MIND, and being ABLE to physically and mentally do things you couldn't before.

So don't think you have to go ALL IN, or NOT AT ALL! It's not one or the other!

You just do what you can. If something comes up, don't give up. Take care of yourself, and jump right back in, because you are worth that!

When a busy woman joins my boot camp and sees that there are workouts 5 days a week, I always try to take the pressure off by telling her...just start with 2 or 3 days. WHAT CAN YOU DO? WHAT WILL WORK WITH YOUR SCHEDULE?

Knowing that you just have to keep going. After the busy season, after the crazy weekend, after the closet binge eating, after the sulking, emotional, lonely eating rant that you have, after you EAT ALL THE PIZZA, you just have to pick back up, and START AGAIN!

So if you are tired of saying...I can't give it my all, so I'm not going to do it at all, then I WANT TO WORK WITH YOU!

I am filling up my boot camp for May, and it is at an amazing price this month (until April 30th at 11:59PM)! Get in with a year long membership! That's right, a one time payment and you get nutrition, meal planning and grocery lists, workouts, accountability, and direct contact with me!

A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY, so let's do it together!

Fill out the form below and I'll send you details to get signed up !

Little Sis goes to Yoga Training! Plus a YOGI

Hey everyone!! Guess where I am today....that's right! My Yoga Certification Training! I will be posting lots of stuff via Instagram so follow me if you want to see all the awesome yoga action going on!!

One awesome thing I will be sporting while in my yoga training, is my super cute & trendy YOGA BAG from Yoga People Bags!!!

Seriously, how cute is this??

yoga people bags

Don't even tell me that I will NOT be the CUTEST YOGI at training!! haha because of my bag of course!!

Anyways, this bag is awesome! Not only does Yoga People Bags have amazing prints for their bags, but they are super roomie as well!

yoga people bags

On a normal basis I leave my mat, strap, and block in my bag! That's pretty roomie on it's own.  A few weeks ago though, I ran to the gym from my house (1.6miles one way), and did a yoga class then ran back.  All I took was my yoga bag, and I fit everything that I needed in it! I was so amazed! But even with just your mat in it, it's not TOO big.  It has a great/roomie inside zipper pocket, then two small outside button pockets.  I use those for my phone, headphones, money, etc.

Big Sis & I both loves these bags!

So in honor of me being at Yoga Certification Training, and Yoga People Bags being so AWESOME, 2 of you are going to WIN  a bag of your choice!!!

So 1st go check out their patterns and COMMENT telling us the name of your favorite yoga bag! Then enter in the Rafflecopter below for more chances to win!

Weight Loss Wednesday #3

Big Sis here.. Well this has been a heck of a trying week... I hate weeks like that, don't you? I am determined to not make it a month like that. This month presents lots of hurdles for me with moving and all of that... but I am determined AND I know that our NFS Weight Loss Wednesday Group will help hold me accountable. So this past week, I worked out 5 of 7 days! I am really proud of that.. however, like I tell everyone- if my eating isn't completely ON BOARD... nothing changes. We had a surprise "Florida Party" on Saturday night where I caved and ate way more food than I should have and my stomach is still recovering from it. (I am writing this on Monday since I will be without internet and driving on Wednesday). Have you ever noticed that when you eat well and then have that one splurge how it makes you feel? Holy cow... makes you wonder why someone would eat like that all of the time.

In our Weight Loss Wednesday Group we have a July Challenge going on. Each day there is a challenge that each of us do and check in with... I am excited to see where this takes us.. especially for me, since we will be driving or in hotels most of it! But I am determined! I am so proud when I see peoples success stories... but sometimes, deep down, it hurts too.. because I have SO far to go. I keep thinking how happy I was with myself last July/August and my body.. and I can't wait to get back there.. I want to be there again... I want to be talking about fitness all the time..... I don't want to be insecure with myself anymore! Pregnancy really changes a person. I wish I could be one of those that bounces right back after pregnancy, but it isn't me... but that is okay, because I probably appreciate it a lot more than I would- because I have to work so hard.

Today you don't get a picture of my scale nor do you get an update on my weight.. because well, with all the chaos of separating what we needed to take with us and what the movers needed to take, I forgot to grab my scale.. SO you will just have to wait. Which is fine with me, as I am sure it isn't pretty. I am having to tell myself.. just keep moving.... I can't go anywhere but down from here (literally, lol) if I try! If you have ever struggled with self image or weight you know how hard it is when you get down on yourself. To you- Just keep keeping on... I will too!

For me, Little Sis, this week, well mostly the weekend wasn't the best for me either.  We are moving as well, and last Wednesday we started staying at a friend's house, and packed up the rest of our necessities, including our bed, and kitchen.  Although we were staying at our friend's house where we had food and a full kitchen, the houses were miles a part, and we had to finish packing and cleaning our house by Sunday.  So we would just grab food from a restaurant! At first we made pretty good choices, like Jason's Deli, where I just got soup, but other nights we didn't make the best choices.  I did keep working out though, and I am so happy to see the scales go down.

I have realized though with my latest healthy eating decisions, that changes don't happen just from working out.  I ran two half marathons this year, and even running that much, I gained weight because my eating habits never changed.  And even though I struggled with eating some while moving, My healthy choices outweighed my unhealthy ones, and I worked out consistently and that showed results!

If you have been working out and have seen NO results, start changing your eating habits!! I'm sure you will see changes!

Also, I just wanted to extend one more invitation to join us in our July Focus Group!

We want each person to be able to set personal goals, and work together with this community to accomplish those Summer Goals!! We want to create an environment where people can share their struggles or accomplishments! Where they can be encouraged on hard days, or be the encourager for others when they need to be! We want you to set a goal, and ACHIEVE it this summer!

So how can you join in!?!

Recap of the week! #AprilFitChallenge

As many of you know, I launched the #AprilFitChallenge, where I challenged myself and anyone who wants to join to get into gear with a weekly training plan I have put together! Basically, anyone could join and each week I send out a new training plan, lot's of encouragement, and a smoothie recipe via email! It's been great, and I been posting plenty of pictures to the challenge album on our facebook page of me doing different moves for each day.

I just wanted to give a little recap as the week comes to a close!

The #AprilFitChallenge really has been challenging for me! I have enjoyed so much the accountability that it brings! For example, last night I had the opportunity to hang out with my friends or go to the gym, and I chose the gym because I knew I had others counting on me to complete that days challenge! I was so thankful in the end, and proud of myself for the decision I made.

And, I have definitely been sore all week! Which I LOVE! I love feeling that I have worked hard! Plus knowing that I have a planned workout really motivates me to make healthy choices throughout the day! On the food I eat, and to drink more water! When you know you have a plan to workout at a specific time with a specific program, you are more aware of the health choices that you make, and I need that.  Sometimes I find myself eating something then when I'm done I realize I didn't even think about it, just did it! (#badchoice)

So anyways, it has been a great I am about to jump in the car with Big Sis to head to Dallas to meet our mom and friends to run the Dallas Color Run tomorrow morning! I am so excited!

day 5 pullups

Here's a post of pullups which is in todays challenge! I love this photo because you can see my muscles, and I'm looking forward to comparing these photos in several weeks to see the changes that have occurred!!

Good Luck if you are doing the challenge and remember to TAG US in your updates!

Weight Training Week 1

Today we started an April Weight Training Challenge!

The GOAL is to challenge our followers to push themselves harder by partnering weight training and cardio workouts together!

We are doing this by creating a weekly training plan that we are emailing out with encouragement, and a smoothie recipe! We believe that by partnering these workouts with eating well and lots of water, you can start to see changes in your body!

Many women believe that lifting weights only bulk you up! BUT when partnered with cardio, you are burning fat and toning!

It's about to be bathing suit/bikini season, DUH!!

I decided that I need to challenge myself after trying to bench press 25's on my bar yesterday and not being able to lift more than one! I was appalled! So I decided that I needed to push myself into gear, and I need encouragement and motivation to do that! So I have created a facebook album where we will be posting the challenges, plus encouragement throughout the week! It will be a place for everyone involved in the challenge to share their thoughts, etc. We want to develop more community and encouragement!

IF YOU WANT TO JOIN! Just comment with your email, or message us on facebook and you will get the weekly challenge email! I guarantee you will be challenged!

Let's do this together!

Training Plan

Most of you may know that we sisters are currently training for the Disney Princess Half Marathon!

I am really excited for this half because it will be a special one! My mom, Big Sister, & I will all be doing it together!!

When we first decided to do this run back in August or September 2012 my sister and I discussed how we wanted to run the whole thing and not stop for photos.  Then when my sister found out she was prego we changed our minds :-) So in case you don't know, throughout the entire run there are Disney characters that you can stop and take photos with.  I cannot wait to get photos wearing my tutu with some of the beautiful Disney Princesses!

Anyways, then a few months after that we decided that we would sign my mom up for the 1/2 with us as a surprise birthday/Christmas gift! This was a big deal for her since she had only started running for the first time in the summer.  At that point she had done about four 5K's.

Once we were all signed up, and the time was getting closer we had to create a real training plan.  And since it was my mom's first half, and my sister would be almost 7 months pregnant, we had to be smart about what we were doing.  So I got some tips from a running coach and made a plan where we would do run/walk intervals.

The training plan I made is below.  We talked about upping our intervals as we went, but instead we decided to stick with just a 4/1 ratio.  We run 4 min then walk 1 min and so on.

So far training this way has been amazing! Plus having this plan really helps me stay disciplined.

disney half training

I chose to do a plan where I run up to 12 miles then decrease until the race.  I did this because after my first half where I only ran up to 10 miles before, I wish I would've run more.  The last 2.5 miles of my half were the hardest and I felt like if I had run further then mentally I would have been more prepared.  This is my tip to so many 1st time 1/2 marathoners...pick a training plan that gets you to run at least 11 or 12 miles.  So this time I feel really good about the half.  Plus with the run/walk interval I feel like I could keep going and going.

If you are looking to increase your PR (=Personal Record) when you are running a race, I really do feel like this is helpful.  I spoke with someone who has used interval running for all of her halves and her time has gotten better every race.  For me as well, the 2nd time I ran 13.1 miles my time was better by about 7min.  So this is really helpful.  Or if it is your first half like my mom, then using this interval run would help you build up to running it without stopping if that is your goal.

We are so excited for our half and it will be here so soon! Be sure to stay tuned over the next few weeks to see things like our race outfit (tutu), our race must haves, pre-race rituals, plus all of the fun Disney posts and photos once we get there and post race weekend fun!!

Also be sure to check out our REVIEWS & GIVEAWAYS tab at the top of our blog! We have an awesome giveaway happening right now, and many more to come this week!!

I found myself lost in thought this morning about how I would like to pursue running longer runs more frequently.

Then I found myself wondering...when in the heck do I have time to do that.

In my half marathon training I save my long runs for Sundays because I have the most time on Sundays.  Those runs can take up to 1-2 hours depending on the distance, and if I was to ever train for a full marathon, it would be well over 2 hours, getting closer to 3hours forlong runs.  Plus with marathon training, long runs would be more frequently.

I thought about how I may never have time for this, then today I ran across this little piece of encouragement.

This really puts things into perspective for me!

WLW #14

Happy Weight Loss Wednesday!

We have so many awesome things going on around here and we are having so much fun doing it! However, today..... we continue with our Weight Loss Journey!

So for myself, (Little Sis)...working out and changing my eating patterns has been going fairly well! Better on the workout side than the eating side :-) But still doing well.  I have been very productive in getting up at 6:30am each morning and running a short mile to mile and a half! This has been a great start to my day!

Then at night I will go to the gym with my husband and do a workout! I mentioned in a past WLW that I was starting to do a weight workout, where I would be focussed 50% of my workout on cardio and the other 50% on weights.  This workout has been going great! I have felt great about it, and it has really been pushing and challenging me!

The only hard part about it is that I have not seen a lot of changing in my weightloss since I started lifting more weights.  This makes sense because I am building muscle, not just losing fat, so I understand, but it is kind of discouraging to not see the scales move.  So Cassey and I have both decided that starting next week we are going to display our measurements and change those throughout this weightloss journey! That way we will be able to see when our body is changing, even if the scale doesn't show it! So look for that next week!

Click on the photo above to see the weight lifting program that I have been following!

Also, don't forget we now have a Fitness--Motivation Pinterest Boardwhere we pin a lot of inspiring fitness and health pins, so be sure to stop by and check it out!

WLW #13

Happy Weight Loss Wednesday! We have been living up the life of vacation.. Baby Sis in Florida and I still in California but with visitors.. Now that the week has ended and we have started a new one.. I was a bit fearful to step on the scale. I did really well the first part of vacation and then I just crashed.. I ate all of my favorites at husbands' birthday party and then it just kept going. Err... I won't lie, I am nervous to step on the scale and give you the brutal truth today! But.. by then end o this post, I will.
As I was trying to figure out what to write about today I was led to Pinterest- which has some of the most motivating weightloss/workout sayings for me. There are a few that I really liked that I chose to show you guys and maybe they will help you and your mindset as it did me.
The 10 Commandments of Weightloss
I know that we all have our own 'commandments' when we are changing our lifestyle on things we want to do differently, do daily, etc. to help implement that change. I would say that all but one of these ring true in my ear.. and the one that doesn't .... well, it NEEDS to. The one that I struggle with the most is #10- Get Enough Sleep. I know that to achieve and reach my ultimate goals I need to be sleeping more... but I really struggle with that. IF I am lucky, I get 5 hours of sleep at night... This is something I need to post and try and make myself get to bed earlier ... because I know it will help me.. and help regulate my metabolism. Oh, that dreaded M word... as I get older that M word sticks to the back of my head like the plague.
Portion Sizes
Does this make anyone else sick but me? I do not remember what the portion sizes were like at say, McDonalds, when I was growing up... but we sure didn't have super size when I was a little girl. The saddest part about this picture to me is that it isn't even super sized... but rather the portion we get when we go to fast food. This is one of the reasons we rarely eat out... because I can control my portion sizes a lot better and easier from my home. I use one of my son's plates when I eat dinner and that really helps. You have to have some SERIOUS self-control to throw away most of those french fries when they give you an over abundance. Don't you wonder how different we would be in America if our portion sizes were NORMAL!?

I can't tell you how many times we are asked "where are your sweets"... We don't have any in our home. Does this mean we don't like them.. heck no. On a normal basis if we want a sweet something or another, I make it... we can't keep Little Debbies, Ice Cream, Chips in our house... why? Because I will eat them and then my son will want them. Not happening. We had visitors last week and our friend LOOOOVES sweets.. and I encouraged it by buying them for him. I felt a little bad that we had nothing to offer that sweet tooth. Problem? Well after he left there was half a chocolate chip cake, 2 Nutty Bars, 4 Oatmeal Cream Pies, and 3 Chocolate something in our freezer. On top of that we had my husbands' birthday party so we have booooooqoooos of chips and juice left over. This is not good my bloggy friends... SO, we keep GOOD food in our house... fridge, freezer, and pantry... because then if we want something BAD we have to literally get in the car and leave to go get it.. which rarely happens.
This is so very real. I have lived this year in and year out. I am so thankful that this time... I will have no regrets. Sure, I may let a weekend get away from me and eat things my body does not need... but it isn't putting me back where I Started. I have come so far that any mishap- even if it lasts a week before I get totally focused again--- is only that, a mishap. I love this saying... and it is so sad that I have let myself pass up many years and having to have said "man, I wish I had started last year"... I am so excited for March 2013.. because I will be able to look back and see how far I have come... What about you?
So if you aren't there yet mentally... lets get there. I love to talk fitness and weightless. You can find me on Facebook for sure and I would love to chat with you... Let's do this! The Right Way!

Don't forget we now have a Fitness--Motivation Pinterest Board where we pin a lot of inspiring fitness and health pins, so be sure to stop by and check it out!
