Ten Years ago... I married my best friend.
I married the first boy I dated... the only boy I dated.
I sure do love him.
I was 19 and he was 20... I would dare to say that MOST people did not approve of us getting married because we were so young.. and we had been broken up for about a year and a half, after I went to college, and then we decided to get married. I remember how upset my mom, his mom, and my brother were. I remember his dad telling his mom, "Just give your boy your blessing... I told you he would marry her." I remember so much about that time. Then I remember the SUPPORT that came from EACH of those people because of their love for us... and because that is what we do in my family, we support each other.
I remember how it broke my heart when I found out family (extended) was questioning our reasons to get married, "Oh, she must be pregnant!" "They are much too young." "I wonder how long they will last!" "She will never finish college now!"
I am here to say, we have made it 10 years and going strong. I love the life that we have and am so thankful to the Lord that He gave Nate to me. We have had our ups and downs like everyone, but we always come out stronger.
We enjoyed six and a half wonderful years of one another... alone. At year 7, we welcomed our bouncing boy into our lives and what a blessing he has been. He changed us like we never thought imaginable. Today we have been married for 10 years and next week we get to meet our first daughter. God has been so good to us.
Nate is a man of honor and such integrity. I am so very thankful of who he is in my life... the father he is to our children. We have both grown so much and seem to have the same goals for our family and future.
IT really is hard to believe it was 10 years ago that we got married... boy, am I feeling old.
Thank you to my sweet husband for putting up with me and loving me. Thank you for supporting me and putting me through school as I got my degree in teaching and went on to get my Masters degree. Thank you for being part of giving me the two best gifts of all- our children. Thank you for protecting us and taking care of us. Thank you for your support in all we do. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for allowing me to put my career on hold and be home with our children. Thank you.
No words are even enough to share how much this man means to me. I wish I had a wedding picture to share with you, but I don't. LOL! I lie, if I had one, I would not share.. those were not my pretty days! :)
Oh and Mom-- I am glad I didn't take you up on the offer as we headed out to our honeymoon... My sweet mom whispered to me, "You can still change your mind!" LOL. I can only imagine how it broke her heart that I was married SO young.
Happy Anniversary Baby Daddy! Here is to 10 more!
